People often claim that eating healthy is time consuming and complicated. If you know how, it can be simple. Here are 5 ways to improve your diet in an easy way.
1 Make a healthy breakfast the night before
Mornings are usually a hectic time, especially with children. There is no excuse for not preparing breakfast the night before. A great way is to make chia pudding or soaked oats in a glass jar.
Try making it in layers, soaked oats in almond milk and then a layer of blended fruit. It takes about five minutes to make, then you place it in a fridge. Your healthy breakfast for the morning is ready.
Another idea is to prepare all your smoothie ingredients the night before. In the morning all you have to do is to put them in your blender. This takes less than five minutes.
2 Thicken soups or sauces with cauliflower
This is an easy way to create healthy texture to your food. Everyone agrees that creamy, thick soups, smooth sauces and mashed potatoes all taste good. The problem is that it contain enormous amounts of fat, usually unhealthy ones.
Luckily, there is a super food available: cauliflower. It is low in fat, low in calories, and high in fiber and nutrients. Add the steamed or boiled cauliflower to your soup or a sauce, and blend it. It will surprise you how thick and creamy the texture is. If you like to make mashed potatoes, use cauliflower instead of potatoes. It tastes similar, and is lower in calories and easier to digest.
3 Replace wheat pasta with noodles made from vegetables
Wheat pasta is a processed food and also contains gluten. It is also mucus-forming and is not good for your digestion. Replace the regular pasta with noodles made of zucchini, carrot or cucumber. You will either need a vegetable spiralizer, or a simple peeler. If you use a peeler, just cut the vegetables into a flat noodle shape. Vegetable noodles, mixed with a sauce, become soft and their texture resembles real pasta.
4 Replace milk in diet with almond milk and replace butter with avocado
Dairy products are also the food of the past. They contain so many antibiotics, hormones, and pesticides. Plus, cow’s milk is the food for baby calves, not for grown-up humans. Also, so many people are lactose-intolerant even without knowing it. Almond or other nut milk is so easy to make, and you can make a bigger batch and keep it in the fridge.
Butter has saturated fat, which can clog your arteries and lead to a heart disease. Replace your butter with an avocado. It tastes so much better and is full of monounsaturated fat.
5 Always have healthy food available
My experience is that I what is available. If I have healthy snacks available, I will eat them when hungry. and there’s less chance that you will eat something unhealthy. When I get hungry, it is more likely that I make bad food decisions. But if I have plenty of healthy food at home to snack, I’m more likely to eat healthy. Buy strawberries, blueberries and nuts which are all superfoods and great snacks.
