In an earlier blog I mentioned food that every kitchen should have, including spices. Here are some real superfood to spice up your life.
1 Turmeric
This spice has the power to help the body to detoxify and is anti-inflammatory. It also has antiviral, antibacterial, anti fungal and anticancer activity. Helping against many diseases such as diabetes, arthritis, Alzheimer´s and other chronic illnesses.
2 Cinnamon
The aroma and warmth of this spice is enough to give you a smile. But it also is good to stabilize your blood sugar and lower the bad cholesterol. In Ayurveda, cinnamon is used to treat indigestion, cold fever and diabetes. Use when having an oatmeal, cereal or your tea.
3 Cumin
High in iron, a mineral needed for both energy and immune function. Also helps digestion and has anti-carcinogenic properties. A potent antioxidant, research shows it can even help prevent cancer. Use with brown rice or salad.
4 Pink Himalayan Sea Salt
I know it, you know it, table salt is not the best salt you can buy. It is cleaned with chemicals and stripped of its natural minerals. Thus leaving just sodium chloride, which is hard for our bodies to break down. This leaves us with excess fluid in our body tissue.
Pink Himalayan Salt, has 84 essential minerals. Alkalizes the pH of your cells, balances electrolytes, and is anti-aging. Many doctors and nutritionists believe an acidic pH is the cause of many diseases. Sprinkle a little bit of this salt may help neutralizing your pH. Grind the coarse crystals fresh over your meals. The taste will enhance any food or salad you prepare.
5 Fresh Black Peppercorns
Most ground black pepper have gone through the process of irradiation before being delivered. This is to keep it fresh for a longer period of time. Making it less nutritious in the process.
I prefer the fresh whole black peppercorns. Grind them fresh on your dish just before eating to enhance the flavor. This way you will get the most nutritional value as well. Black peppercorns can improve digestion, intestinal health and is full of antioxidants.
