If you are like me I want a good breakfast. Sometimes it is difficult as you are in such a hurry. Then this could be something for you. If this is the perfect base as you can take all the dry ingredients with you.
To be able to stay with the healthy meals it is important to have this options that are quick to make. It is a great option for the on the go breakfast meal, snack or dessert you need when craving something on the go.
This is also an easy way to add some super foods to your breakfast bowl to your liking.
Preparation
Often the chia porridge is only made out of chia seeds. This makes the porridge a little slimy, and thats ok. But if you add things like ground flax or chopped nuts you will get a more crunchy texture.
Chia and almond porridge – serves two
400 ml almond milk (or any other milk of your liking)
3 tablespoons of chia seeds
2 tablespoons of ground flax seeds
A handful of almonds or hazelnuts chopped to your liking
Half a teaspoon of ground vanilla
Top this with:
Fruits: mango, avocado, orange, banana, apple or peach
Berries: my favorite is blueberries – frozen or chilled
Nut Butter: you can either use almond butter or a quality peanut butter
Jam: I prefer the St. Dalfour that does not use any sugar
Crunch: nuts and seeds, roasted coconut, bee pollen or fresh mint leaves
This list is not complete, if you have your own preferences you can add those to the list.
How to do it:
Chia porridge is usually prepared the day before. Add all the dry ingredients first and add almond milk, or any other milk to your liking in the end. stir well together and cover up in the fridge. Before going to sleep give it a stir. It will then soak all night.
In the morning this will serve two bowls. Now it is down to your creativity and taste. Add something from each category to create a colorful and tasty breakfast bowl.
If you prefer having your fruits on the side you can also do that. If you like frozen fruits, you can add more of those. Sometimes you can take fruits that are about to go old, chop them into small cubes and freeze them. Then they are a great addition to your breakfast bowl.
Enjoy!
