7 Habits for an Healthier Body

Trying to get up in the morning can sometimes be a struggle.  Especially if sleep has´nt been the best. It is still one of the most important moments of the day to make the most of it.  Getting a good start of the day you are more likely to have a more productive and enjoyable day.

Here are 7 Habits for a healthier body and mind

1.   Drink Water – and lots of it!

Rehydrating your body after a good night´s sleep is important.  Try splashing your face with cold water to give the skin some benefit as well. Add a slice of lemon to the water for extra health benefit.

2.   Eat Breakfast – to reduce the likelihood of having unhealthy cravings later on

Breakfast is more important than you think.  It stops you from having unhealthy hunger cravings before lunch time. If well balanced it gives you a great boost of energy for the day.  See my list of superfood bowls for extra energized breakfasts.  Simple and easy to make!

3.    Take on a physical activity

Go for a quick jog, a good walk, swim or yoga.  Make it part of your morning routine when you wake up and before your breakfast.  Research shows that is the most effective time of day to exercise.  This is the perfect way to get your body energized, warm and ready for the day.

4.   Stretching your body

If you go for a run or other type of exercise, a stretch afterwards is key. It sets the tone for a smooth and limber body for the rest of the day. If you don´t have time to exercise, do some yoga stretches. It will get the blood going, improves posture giving a calming sense. This will give you the clarity to reflect on what´s ahead in the day.  Sets the tone for an active work day.

5.   Visualize your perfect day!

Taking a moment to visualize your day ahead to give you a head start. Focus on all the positives and think of solutions for the parts you dread. This will help you prepare for a successful day.  Put a positive tone on everything and you can take on all the challenge lying ahead.

6.   Socialize – preparing the evening

Check in with friends for a quick laugh and prepare for an enjoyable evening out.  Having a laugh in the morning helps set the tone for the day. It gets you relaxed and ready to take on whatever the day has in place for you.

7.   Drink your Herbal Tea

Take a break on the coffee and try some great herbal tea to improve your health. Tea with ginger, lemon and peppermint are great. They contain antioxidants, cleanse your body and have a calming and therapeutic effect.  The day will be a breeze after a good cup of herbal tea.
